Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is utilized for its rigidity and durability, solvent resistance, and weatherability. PVC is a great material for long-lasting agricultural trays that will be consistently cleaned. PVC is available with a food-grade NSF capping layer to guarantee your plants are safe for consumption.
Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene (PP), also referred to as the #5 plastic, is widely used due to its strength and resistance to chemicals and moisture. Often considered a safe choice, PP is commonly used in food storage containers. PP is known not to release harmful chemicals that could affect plants, food, or the like.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is rigid and durable, but without the UV-stability afforded by PVC. ABS can yellow and become brittle with long-term UV exposure but will typically last for several years. Similarly to PVC, ABS is available with a food-grade NSF capping layer.
High-Density Polyethylene
High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is considered safe for the uses of horticulture, hydroponics, and agriculture. Known for resistance to moisture and chemicals, it does not leach harmful chemicals that could potentially attack plants. HDPE is often used for plastic plant containers.
Bioplastic Composites and Recyclable Plastics and Polymers
